Observation of Print Media Neys Reporting During the Presidential Election Period

Report No 02: Front-page news coverage in daily and weekend newspapers in the first
the week following the nomination day (August 16 – 31)

This Observational Research examines how print media adheres to the media guidelines and
professional codes of conduct set by the Election Commission during the “Election period” of the
Presidential Election 2024. This primarily focuses on the extent to which these guidelines were
integrated into the media’s coverage of election-related news, evaluating both the observance of
electoral regulation and journalistic integrity.
The study prioritizes the assessment of the neutrality and impartiality exhibited by print media in its
news reporting. It further investigates whether the allocation of print media space was equitable,
ensuring that no political party, independent group, or candidate was subject to either favouritism or
bias.
The methodological approach employed in this study facilitates a comprehensive analysis of the
content within print media, using both qualitative and quantitative techniques to assess the depth
and scope of media reporting.
