Successfully completed two workshops on ‘Journalism in the Age of Disinformation: The Truth Toolkit for Journalists’ for Sinhala and Tamil Medium Journalists in the Colombo District.

With the support of the U.S. Embassy Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Press Institute organized a two-day workshop series on ‘Journalism in the Age of Disinformation: The Truth Toolkit for Journalists’ across the island. The Colombo District workshop of the series was held on May 6th and 7th, 2024, at Renuka City Hotel. Two separate workshops were conducted for Sinhala and Tamil Medium Journalists.

During these sessions, we delved into strategies for spotting and combating disinformation, particularly in the digital landscape where information overload is prevalent. Our aim was to empower journalists as key influencers of societal discourse, urging them to exercise discernment in handling information daily.

We are proud to have equipped our participants with essential tools and techniques to discern fact from fiction, emphasizing the importance of embracing new technologies to enhance their journalistic endeavors.
