The Sri Lanka Press Institute is conducting a series of workshops for journalists and media professionals on ‘Journalism in the Age of Disinformation: The Truth Toolkit for Journalists’, with the support of the U.S. Embassy Colombo, Sri Lanka. As part of this program, we conducted a two-day workshop for journalists and media professionals in the Batticaloa District on March 29th and 30th.
In this initiative, we discuss how to spot and avoid disinformation, especially on online platforms, during this specific era in which information is overflowing over devices. Journalists, as the key factor of society who manage and present information, need to carefully consider the information they handle daily. While training journalists to be vigilant of disinformation in their reporting, we emphasise the importance of adopting new technologies and tools in their journalistic work.
As the Sri Lanka Press Institute, we continue to encourage media professionals and emerging journalists in good journalism.
