The Journalism Awards for Excellence 2018 (20th Edition) was successfully concluded with the ‘Awards Night’  at the Empire Ballroom of Mt. Lavinia Hotel on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.  The event was organized by The Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka (TEGOSL) and Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI).

The event saw a total of 313 applications including the latest category, Best News Feature using Right to Information (RTI). Five Lifetime achievement awards were presented at the event. The Chief Guest at the event was Mrs. Lakmini Welgama, Chairperson of the Upali Newspapers. The convener of the event was Mr. Sukumar Rockwood.
