The Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) organized a panel discussion titled “AI & Newsroom Transformation” on 13th July 2026, bringing together media professionals to explore how Artificial Intelligence is transforming modern newsrooms.
The discussion featured Moiz Mustafa (Digital Media Manager, Wijeya Newspapers Ltd), Dilshan Sandakakulu Madawala (Head of Operations – News & Digital, Neth FM), and Ramesh Kumar (Head of Digital Media, Express Newspapers (Ceylon) Pvt Ltd) as panelists. The session was moderated by Kalavarshny Kanagaratnam, Editor of Citypost.lk and Media Educator.
The discussion focused on the practical use of AI in journalism, newsroom innovation, language challenges, audience engagement, ethical considerations, and the future of AI-powered journalism.
