Strengthening Digital Media Literacy for Youth: Empowering Future Leaders
In today’s internet age, where harmful narratives may quickly spread, it’s crucial to teach young people how to navigate the online world responsibly. A workshop on Digital Media Literacy and Unmasking False Narratives for undergraduate students at the University Of Ruhuna was organised by the Sri Lanka Press Institute with the support of the U.S. Embassy Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The workshop took place on August 23rd, 2023, at the University of Ruhuna, with 38 participants. The main purpose was to help young people comprehend digital media better and unite to counter false narratives online. The workshop was conducted by media trainer Kasun Kumarage and the SLPI team.
We extend our gratitude to the Career Guidance Unit at the University of Ruhuna for their assistance in the coordination of the workshop.
