The FactSeeker team of the Sri Lanka Press Institute took the first steps to set up a Fact Checkers Forum in Sri Lanka today. This event was held on the zoom platform with representatives from like-minded fact-checking organizations in Sri Lanka, namely: AFP News Agency, Factcrescendo – Sri Lanka, Verité Research’s FactCheck.lk, Hashtag Generation and Citizen Fact Check. The event progressed effectively following a discussion format and was preceded by an introduction to the forum by Kumar Lopez, CEO of the Sri Lanka Press Institute.
Collective ideas in debunking false information in Sri Lanka and the effective collaborative efforts were discussed at the meeting.
This initiative would prove to be a success in achieving the long-term objective of all our organizations in nurturing an informed public.
