Workshop to Promote Democracy and Youth Political Literacy

The Eastern Province workshop titled “A Strong Parliament for a Democratic Tomorrow” organized by the Sri Lanka Press Institute was successfully held in Batticaloa on February 28th. A group of 23 youth from Batticaloa, Ampara and Trincomalee districts participated in the workshop. The morning session was conducted by Senior Lecturer, Mr. Hakeem Abubackar and he discussed the parliamentary procedures with youth. The event was also graced by Hon. MP Shanakiyan Rasamanikkam and he engaged with youth discussing his personal experience at the Parliament. The event was very well-received as participants actively engaged in the discussion.
