"Advertising, Media and Misguiding the Public" Open discussion

The Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) as organized an open discussion on "Advertising, Media and Misguiding the Public" on Monday, October 06 at 5 pm in the SLPI Auditorium, 96, Kirula Road, Colombo 05. several media personnel, publisher and journalist participated for the event.

The Speakers Mr. Sundara Nihathamani de Mel, Editor-in-Chief, Irida Lakbima and Mr. Damma Dissanayake, Senior Lecturer, Department of Political Science and Public Policy, University of Colombo all participated and gave there inputs during the discussion.

The session was chaired by Mr. Ariyananda Dombagahawatta, Editor-in-Chief, Lankadeepa.

The main discussion during the forum was regarding the recent incident on the scandal by a person called Sakvithi Ranasinghe and the role of media in this case.

The main focus was on the advertising policies and the social responsibilities of media in the context of public information.
